Oglee Poglee is a business that was created by Claire Gillespie of Hertfordshire that specialises in imaginative craft boxes, children craft workshops and party entertainment. We at LadyBug Home are extremely lucky that we have previously attended several of her craft workshops in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire.
We were very excited when Claire sent us "The Invention" craft box for an afternoon of crafting. The craft boxes are aimed at 3-8 years old and retail at £18.00 + shipping. My 3 1/2 daughter loves robots, cars and planes so this was a perfect box to keep her entertained. I really enjoyed playing with the items in the box also.
Claire has given a lot of thought about creating a very special crafting box for children. The sticker on the shipping packaging says "WARNING: This box can cause extreme excitement for little ones". The craft box can be personalised with her child's name and would be make an unique birthday, Christmas or rainy day surprise. Each box contains a story about "Olgee Pip" and his adventures plus a "magic" button. My daughter loved her magic button and carried it around all day. She loved playing with it while crafting and it gave her inventions some "magic".
I was absolutely amazed by all the imaginative and fun items that were included in the box. Some of of the items included are: decorative paper and card; assorted card shapes (bus, car, and truck); artstraws; cardboard tube; wooden spools; foam airplanes; pipe cleaners; lollipop sticks; mega sticks; paper string; and cardboard disks.
The storybook was a perfect way to start crafting and thinking of some project ideas. The story is about Oglee Pip and how he wants to create a "speed machine" using items from his box full of strange objects. Claire provides some project ideas of how to use some of the items from the craft box. I read all the project ideas to my daughter and she said "I want to make that.. and that..". I knew we would be having a long afternoon of crafting.
One project idea is colouring in the pages of the storybook and it is really lovely to have story to re-read later for more inspiration. The craft box also comes with a pot of PVA glue and spreader that my daughter loved using. It was the perfect size and so easy for her to use the glue without my assistance. Being a 3 year old, she did have fun gluing lollipops sticks together to create very simple airplanes.
The first projects that my daughter started to work on was decorating and colouring the bus. I quickly glued a white piece of paper behind the bus windows and she enjoyed using provided racing car foam sticker on the side of the bus and then draw people in the windows. There is a bus driver that does not look for happy but maybe it is because there is crying baby in the window above him.
The next really easy and quick project was to use the foam airplane kits. The craft box comes with a small and medium size airplane that just requires some decorating and then it is ready for flying. I love that this craft box included projects that would only take a couple minutes but also some project ideas that could take longer.
The next project was to create a "speed machine" like Oglee Pip. This would be a great project for a little older child but I was needed to punched the holes through the tube and cardboard wheels so that we could use artstraws to create rolling wheels.
The craft box included foam clay. My daughter and I had never used or played with foam clay before so it was really fun to play with it. It is really hard to describe the texture of it but it really easy to shapes with. My daughter created seats on her "speed machine" for Daddy, Baby, Mommy and Big Sister.
Then it was time to create a robot. I was involved with taping and cutting the paper to create the basic structure of the robot but my daughter loved drawing and designing the gears and workings of the robot.
We truly had an amazing afternoon crafting and all the pieces have been put back in the box for more "inventing" in the future. There is other themed personalised Craft and Storybook Boxes available but also Seasonal Little Crafty Boxes, Story Telling Craft Kits, and Kids Party Bags.
I was provided a Oglee Poglee craft box in exchange for this honest review. Thank your for visiting.
